Oral cancer can easily appear in individuals who have multiple risk factors. However, they can also appear in patients who do not carry any risk factors, making it especially important to perform oral cancer screenings during every routine exam. To do this, we use the VELscope, a technology that utilizes bioluminescence to pinpoint oral sores and red or white patches in oral tissue. The sooner we can catch these early signs, the easier it will be to get you started on a treatment plan with a trusted physician.

Some patients, particularly children, need additional help protecting teeth that can easily develop tooth decay. This includes the molars and premolars, both of which are characterized by deep pits and cracks that collect food debris and plaque. To protect the teeth, we can apply a series of dental sealants, then seal them instantly the same day with a curing light. This protective coating can remain on teeth for up to 10 years, so young patients can feel protected as they perfect their oral care.

If you are under the age of 18, you’re probably familiar with fluoride treatments because they are typically done every six months or every year following a detailed cleaning. Fluoride is often found in oral care products and most public drinking water systems, but our in-house fluoride is much stronger. Once applied to teeth, you can expect them to remain strong and well-protected against tooth decay well until your next appointment. Just make sure to keep brushing and flossing as usual!
